Yes, I know this is my third post in a row about Google's Veo 3 generative AI model. And, no, I haven't even tried it yet. But the positive coverage it's received since its release in May seems to indicate the hype is real.
Will Douglas Heaven, in an article entitled "Five things you need to know about AI right now," lists the number one development as "[g]enerative AI is now so good it’s scary." Then he name-drops Veo 3 as a specific example: "Just look at what people are doing with new video-generation tools like Google DeepMind’s Veo 3."
Heaven also touches on other provocative AI topics, such as how hallucinations aren't going away, the challenge AI poses for energy production/distribution, and the lack of definitional rigor around the phrase "artificial general intelligence." Check it out at the previous link.
